Yesterday, I finished reading a book that was recommended to me by two fellow teachers as well as 2 former students. It is Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I enjoyed this book because it was fast paced and kept me hanging at every chapter. I could not put it down because I wanted to find out what happened next. Here is a quick summary:
Luke is a 12 year old boy living in "hiding" from the government because the law says families can only have 2 children. When a new community is built behind Luke's house, Luke discovers his new neighbors also have a 3rd child in hiding. Luke is desperate for a friend and must decide if the risk of meeting this other "hidden" child outweighs the risk of possibly being discovered.
Among the Hidden is a story of adventure and suspense that will keep the pages turning! AS a bonus, this is the first book in a series of five! I can't wait to read the rest.
